Here, you can select from various cables to connect your camera to the host. The cables are listed by digital interface.
All cables and boards have been tested with our cameras for signal integrety to provide maximum performance. They fulfill regulatory requirements, for such as electromagnetic interference and materials.

CoaXPress Cables
CoaXPress is an industrial camera interface that transmits image data with very high bandwidth over coaxial cables from the camera to the frame grabber.
It enables extremely high data rates (up to more than 12 Gb/s per cable), long cable lengths of up to 70 m, and reliable, low-latency transmission.
Key advantages include simultaneous power supply and camera control over the same cable.

FAKRA Coax Cables
FAKRA Coax is a single-coaxial cable interface widely used for automotive-grade serialized camera links. This is used by FPD-Link III and GMSL2. FAKRA Coax provides high bandwidth, low latency, excellent EMC performance. The FAKRA connector offers secure mating and reliable retention, and the same cable can carry power and control along with video. It is favored where simple cabling and strong shielding are priorities. The maximum cable length is 15 m with Alvium FP3 or GM2.
Note: For development, we recommend connecting Alvium FP3 or Alvium GM2 cameras with FAKRA coaxial connector from the camera to a deserializer board to a MIPI CSI-2 adapter board to an embedded board.

GigE Cables (RJ45 Connector)
GigE (Gigabit Ethernet) is a network-based camera interface that moves image data over standard Ethernet infrastructure. Typically, cameras use the GigE Vision protocol. It offers up to 1 GBit/s per link on copper. Variants with 2.5, 5, or 10 GBit/s reach a higher throughput. CAT 6 cables support cable lengths up to 100 m. Multi-camera topologies can be achieved via switches. Advantages include widespread, low-cost components, Power over Ethernet (PoE) for a single-cable used for power and data, and reliable synchronization options (e.g., IEEE 1588 PTP).

HSD STP Cables
HSD STP is an automotive-grade, shielded twisted-pair camera link that uses HSD connectors to carry high-speed serialized video over differential cabling. This is used by FPD-Link III and GMSL2. HSD STP delivers multi-gigabit throughput with low latency and good EMI immunity. Power and bidirectional control can be transmitted on the same cable, simplifying installation. Compact connectors and robust shielding make it suitable for harsh environments and tight spaces. The maximum cable length is 10 m with Alvium FP3 is and 8 m with Alvium GM2. Improving signal integrity enables greater cable lengths.
Note: For development, we recommend connecting Alvium FP3 or Alvium GM2 cameras with HSD STP connector from the camera to a deserializer board to a MIPI CSI-2 adapter board to an embedded board.

M12 X-Coded Cables
M12 X-coded is a ruggedized industrial Ethernet connector system that separates the eight conductors into distinct quadrants. It brings GigE performance into harsh environments where vibration, moisture, or contaminants make RJ45 less suitable, while maintaining high cable lengths. Mechanical locking and robust shielding improve reliability for mobile or outdoor machinery.

MIPI CSI-2 Cables
MIPI CSI-2 is a board-level camera interface standard for embedded systems, using MIPI D-PHY or C-PHY lanes to achieve very high aggregate bandwidth with low power and extremely low latency. MIPI CSI-2 integrates a control channel (I2C) and requires careful signal integrity design and software integration. MIPI CSI-2 is optimized for short-reach connections with FPC cables. There is no universal external connector standard, Alvium CSI-2 cameras use Hirose FH55.
Note: For development, we recommend connecting Alvium 1500 C and 1800 C cameras to embedded boards using MIPI CSI-2 adapter boards.

MIPI CSI-2 Adapter Boards
Electrical connections for MIPI CSI-2 are not standardized. Therefore, Alvium cameras using MIPI CSI-2 cannot be connected to the host by out-of-the-shelf accessories. MIPI CSI-2 adapter boards speed up development and enable applications for devices produced in small small quantities.

Alvium FP3 and GM2
Alvium FP3 and Alvium GM2 cameras use MIPI CSI-2 and I2C as control protocol, encoded and decoded by SerDes. The connection goes from the camera to a deserializer board to a MIPI CSI-2 adapter board to an embedded board.

USB 3.0 Cables
USB 3.0 (also referred to as USB 3.2 Gen 1) is a widely available camera interface delivering up to 5 GBit/s nominal bandwidth with plug-and-play usability and broad OS support. Cameras can be bus-powered and connected via switches, making deployment simple and cost-effective. Throughput and latency can vary with host controller, cabling, and shared bus usage. USB 3.0 is well suited for single-camera setups and compact systems. Alvium 1800 U cameras support 8 m cable length.
