Infrared Imaging

See more. Achieve more.

Within the electromagnetic spectrum, infrared radiation lies between visible light and microwaves. For imaging applications, it typically covers wavelength from 0.75 μm to 14 μm wavelength and is divided into near-infrared (NIR), short-wave infrared (SWIR), mid-wave infrared (MWIR), and long-wave infrared (LWIR). Capturing infrared light is challenging and requires sophisticated sensor technology and specialized lenses.

SWIR Portfolio

Our SWIR Camera Portfolio

Allied Vision has many years of experience in developing short-wave infrared cameras based on InGaAs sensor technology. Leveraging this expertise, Allied Vision offers optimized SWIR cameras with excellent image quality, including high homogeneity, wide dynamic range, and linear response, for a wide range of applications.

Our current product portfolio includes models with and without thermoelectric sensor cooling (TEC) and ranges from single board-level options to housed models with a compact form factor and support for different lens mount options.

For scientifically oriented applications, cameras with dual-stage thermoelectric sensor cooling (TEC2) are available, enabling particularly low-noise image capture at long exposure times. When equipped with extended range InGaAs sensors, they can even detect wavelengths up to 2.2 µm.

The cameras are available with the most popular interfaces used in machine vision, including 1GigE, 5GigE, and 10GigE, Camera Link, CoaXPress, USB3, and CSI‑2 (MIPI).

All Allied Vision SWIR cameras feature vision‑standards‑compliant interfaces, GenICam‑compliant feature handling, comprehensive I/O control, and multiple mounting options—enabling easy system integration and reliable operation.

// allPIXA SWIR

Seeing the invisible – non-destructive inspection and sorting processes in real time with fast line rates and high sensitivity.

This high-performance short-wave infrared (SWIR) line scan camera offers exceptional imaging capabilities for machine vision applications that require non-visible material analysis during high-speed inspections. It utilizes advanced indium/gallium/arsenide (InGaAs) sensor technology and offers a broad spectral range from 950 nm to 1,700 nm for imaging outside the visible range.

All illumination types and geometries of the powerful Chromasens Corona II LED line illumination family can be used for image capture with allPIXA SWIR.

SENSOR

The state-of-the-art InGaAs sensor offers high sensitivity and low noise. The allPIXA SWIR is available as a camera with a resolution of 1,000 pixels and 12.5 µm or as a camera with a resolution of 512 pixels and larger 25 µm pixels. Thanks to the high sensitivity of the sensor, the camera delivers the best results at high speeds.

INTERFACES

The camera series offers a GigE Vision interface, which is the industry standard in image processing.

LINE RATES

Both allPIXA SWIR models offer line rates of up to 40 kHz.

SOFTWARE

Free Allied Vision software tools and SDK are available. The GenICam-compliant GigE Vision interface enables easy integration into existing image processing systems.

APPLICATIONS

The SWIR range provides useful information that is not visible in the RGB wavelength spectrum and provides valuable information beyond RGB images. This is helpful for unusual inspection tasks to detect defects and errors that are not visible to the human eye, e.g., quality control of semiconductors, content control of opaque containers, detection of substances and moisture, or inspection and control of coatings and surfaces.
