Multiple network adapters in the same subnet cause errors
Multiple network adapters with the same subnet address may cause errors such as “cameras not found”, “cameras discovered and lost repeatedly”, or similar issues.
Therefore, configure each network adapter and camera to a unique subnet. Make sure to consider wireless adapters as well. Often, they are the cause for multiple NICs being assigned to the same subnet.
Best practice: Assign different subnets to the wired and wireless networks or disable one network interface when using the other network.
IP routing cannot handle multiple adapters in the same subnet unless each adapter can route to the same remote addresses, as in most cases one is used exclusively, with the other as hot standby. Thus, having a camera connected to each of these adapters results in unpredictable behavior. More information: support.microsoft.com/en-ca/kb/175767
