"Allied Vision helped me learn about myself"

Natalie Pope came as a Co-op student to Allied Vision and worked for the Burnaby office in Canada

Hi Natalie, can you please briefly introduce yourself?
My name is Natalie Pope and I’m currently a 4th year student at Simon Fraser University (SFU) studying Communications and English.

What was your experience as a student at Allied Vision?
I was hired as a Marketing Assistant for the Burnaby office, and my main job was to help organize the tradeshows in the United States.  I had a great experience working at Allied Vision.  Not only did I learn about marketing and event planning, my supervisor gave me opportunities to do some writing and editing which are particular interests of mine.  Some of my other duties included updating the website, research, and design. This was a great experience to develop new skills in a new industry.

How did you get to know Allied Vision?
I learned about Allied Vision through the co-op program at Simon Fraser University.

How is it to work at Allied Vision?
Allied Vision is a great place to work because of the people. Everyone is very nice and friendly, and you really get a sense of community when you work there.  I felt comfortable asking for advice, as it was a supportive place to learn.  Though it is not all work at Allied Vision, there were also several potlucks, BBQ’s and a Christmas party during my work term.  We shared many laughs and I have some great memories from working at Allied Vision.

What are the next steps for you? Any career plans at Allied Vision?

My co-op term ended at the end of 2012, and I am now back as a full time student at SFU.  Although I do not have any concrete future career plans, Allied Vision helped me learn about myself and has given me a better understanding of what might appeal to me as a future career.
