Reviewing the Embedded World 2019
After a successful participation last year, Allied Vision exhibited this year again at the Embedded World Exhibition. The leading international fair for embedded systems took part in Nuremberg from 26th to 28th of February. This year we were not only present on our booth #418 in Hall 31, but were also invited by the VDMA, to participate in the panel discussion.
At the Forum in Hall 2, we discussed new architectures and technologies boosting (new) vision applications. The other participants of the discussion were Michael Gielda (Vice President, Business Development, Antmicro Ltd), Jason Carlson (CEO, Congatec AG), Olaf Munkelt (Managing Director, MVTec Software GmbH) and James Tornes (Vice President, ON Semiconductor Ltd).
We gathered many positive impressions in the panel discussion. It was truly overwhelming how many spectators were at the event. This means that the interest in Embedded Vision has increased significantly compared to previous years.
While we discussed about embedded board manufacturing, it became obvious that we have to work together on a common ecosystem. This would include a collaboration with embedded board manufacturers and camera manufacturers. Additionally, we also need to reduce our customer's fears, when it comes to explaining deep learning.
Deep learning is currently a buzz word and everyone has a different understanding of it. We all think we can do it immediately. But as we heard in the discussion, large amounts of data are needed for deep learning involving high costs. To prevent misunderstandings, we need to work together on common standards.
We are already looking forward to it!
